It was probably the fascination for scandinavian heavy metal such as that played by Dark Tranquillity, In Flames and Sentenced and their innovative albums like "The Gallery", "Down" and "Whoracle", which, in 1998, impressed three young Italian musicians so much that they gave their band a Swedish name. Ironically Tystnaden means something like "quiet". But Marco Di Castri (bass), Cesare Codispoti (guitar) and Nestor Borgo (drums) had anything but quiet music in their minds when they wrote their first songs. Whilst they were on holiday at the coast they met the young guitarist Frederico Grassi and, together with singer Giovanni Garimoldi they were able to complete their first line-up in the first year of Tystnaden's existence.
During 1999 Tystnaden were able to develop their style more and more and they soon expressed a wish to give some contrast to the raw male vocals by introducing a melodic, female voice. A young lady with the musical name of Laura De Luca soon proved herself to be the ideal person and her wonderfully powerful voice soon enriched the band's sound palette and giving it an additional dimension. Spurred on by this, Tystnaden recorded their first two track demo, "Tystnaden" in May 2000 and sent it out into the big wide world. The echo from the press all around the world was astounding. They had successfully taken their first step...
But there was soon to be a disappointment. Singer Giovanni Garimoldi and drummer Nestor Borgo left the band for personal reasons. The Italians hunted at fever pitch for replacements and finally found a more than adequate replacement in Alberto Iezzi. His immense talent gave Tystnaden the courage to continue. And then, when keyboarder Lorenzo Frascaroli met up with the band through pure coincidence and turned out to be an excellent death metal singer, their happiness knew no bounds. After intensive songwriting they entered the Outer Sound Studios in Rome in May 2003, to record the songs of their MCD "Fragments". The result not only thrilled the band and the international music press, but also awakened the interest of Limb Music Products (LMP), with whom they soon reached an agreement for continued collaboration.
The European release date of their first album "Sham Of Perfection" was scheduled on 26th May 2006, and the USA release date on 27th June. The album is a powerful mix of melody and aggressively and draw the attention and the true interest of a lot of very good reviews from the specialized press. Sham of Perfection conquered also the heart of a lot of new fans all over the world.
At the end of the year Marco Di Castri, bass player and one of the founding fathers of Tystnaden, left the band for job's reasons that have brought him to live in another city. His decision was forecast for a long time. In fact, Artur Sahakjan, after having been a session bass player and a useful help for Tystnaden during Marco's obvious absences, enters officially the band as the bass player in January 2007.
At the same time, in January 2007 Tystnaden enter Entropia Studios by Simone Sant to record the pre production demo of the new upcoming album. This pre production demo contains 8 tracks that will compose the second full-length album. In July 2007 the band will enter New Sin Studios by Luigi Stefanini to start the recordings of their new album.
